Level-Two Coolness

Yesterday afternoon we had a level-two ultrasound and got to see our little squirt in fuzzy black and white. Our technician was really great, she explained all the pictures she was taking. They check and measure the arms and legs, the head, the belly, and the spine. She pointed out different parts of the brain they check, the stomach and the kidneys, and the four valves of the heart. They estimate baby weight at about 1 lb 3 oz which puts us right on target for the September 15th due date. Heartbeat was 147 bpm at one point and 163 bpm later on (after being pushed around by the ultrasound wand for 15 minutes!). Baby was resting upside down with the little feet around my belly button and the head down low.

We didn't find out the gender; baby was being stubborn/uncooperative/modest (daddy's adjective/tech's adjective/mommy's adjective). So we'll be surprised in September! The technician printed out some of the pictures for us. I will post them online as soon as I get them scanned in.
